Do metal swing sets rust?

Galvanised and powder-coated steel frames are designed for outdoor use and resist corrosion. However, scratches or impact damage that expose bare metal may allow surface rust to develop.

How do you prevent rust on a metal swing frame?

To reduce rust risk:

  • Inspect for coating damage
  • Clean dirt and debris from joints
  • Keep drainage clear around anchor points
  • Treat small surface rust spots promptly

Structural corrosion requires replacement parts.

Do metal swing sets need treatment?

Swing sets are designed for outdoor use. However, prolonged damp conditions and extreme weather may accelerate wear if maintenance is neglected.
